Each destination is an adventure
The Elzerland is an ideal starting point on your way to the highlights of Eifel, Mosel and Rhine. Sights e.g. castles and palaces remind us of past times. Historical village centres attract with half-timbered houses and a leisurely stroll through narrow alleys. In the numerous museums a lot can be discovered about the Eifel region. In summer swimming pools are not the only possibility to cool down; taking a bath in one of the maar lakes, the “eyes of the Eifel”, is something very special. Animal and leisure parks are special attractions for children. Witnesses of the past are met on all ways. Neanderthals, Celts and Romans; still today their traces can be followed in the Eifel.
Also worth seeing are cities, communities and villages, e.g. Mayen in the East Eifel with its Genoveva Castle, which today is venue for many events, e.g. the castle festival in summer or the former cloth-making city Monschau in the Eifel National Park with its “Red House”, the numerous museums or the “historic mustard mill”. Bitburg, however, has become famous far beyond borders for its brewing art, as well as Gerolstein for its mineral water.
